Locksmith in Antibes
Antibes packs three kinds of building stock into a single commune: an old town shut inside its ramparts, a cape of walled properties, and Juan-les-Pins, whose population doubles in summer.
Locksmithing in Antibes, in practice
The old town, within the ramparts, is walked. Narrow streets, old solid-wood doors, tall buildings on tiny plots: the stairs are steep and the landings cramped, which limits the equipment that can be carried up. Give the name on the entryphone and the floor — in large flats that have been subdivided, several doors look alike on the same landing.
Cap d’Antibes is gate country. Walled properties, boundary walls, private tracks and caretakers: reaching a door there often means crossing a first boundary before the house is even in sight. A good share of the requests concern not the front door but a gate, a service door or an access to the beach.
Juan-les-Pins and the sea front take the full force of the season: short-term lets, holiday flats, keys handed over and given back every week. Replacing the cylinder between two occupants is part of running the place. At La Fontonne and Les Semboules, by contrast, the stock is one of permanent homes — 1960s–1980s co-owned blocks and townhouses.
Around the Port Vauban and in the streets nearby, cellars, storerooms and plant rooms multiply. These access points are often overlooked when a property is secured, even though they frequently connect to the main building.
Antibes, neighbourhood by neighbourhood
We cover the whole town. Each area has its own building stock — and therefore its own recurring requests.
Vieil Antibes — remparts
Narrow lanes inside the ramparts, steep stairs and cramped landings: equipment goes up by hand, and several doors look alike on a landing that has been subdivided.
Cap d’Antibes
Before the front door there is usually a gate, a boundary wall and a private lane, so access has to be arranged with the caretaker or the owner.
Juan-les-Pins
Short-term lets around the pine grove and port Gallice: keys change hands every week, and cylinders are swapped far more often than locks.
La Fontonne
Year-round housing along the Nice road: blocks from the 1960s to the 1980s and terraced houses whose doors have shifted since they were hung.
Les Semboules
Large housing blocks with landing doors in ordinary sizes, but original mechanisms loosened by three decades of daily use.
Port Vauban — Salis
Cellars, store rooms and service rooms at the foot of the buildings, often linked to the stairwell and forgotten when a home is secured.

Every one of our services is available in Antibes. Each page sets out what the service involves specifically here.
Door opening
In Antibes the door is rarely the first obstacle: there is a staircase in the old town first, or a gate at the Cap, or an entryphone carrying three near-identical names.
Door opening in AntibesLock and cylinder replacement
In Antibes one request covers two opposite jobs: a cylinder swapped between two stays in Juan-les-Pins, and a lock on an old town door that no current catalogue can match.
Lock and cylinder replacement in AntibesSecuring your home after a break-in
After a break-in in Antibes two things are urgent at once: closing the property up, and not erasing what the file will rest on. When the home is only lived in part of the year, the order matters even more.

An Antibes lock gives plenty of warning before it fails: the key catches, the door has to be lifted, one bolt drags. On this stretch of coast those signs settle in faster than elsewhere.
Locksmith repairs in AntibesDoor reinforcement
In Antibes the choice between retrofit armouring and a full armoured door set is settled less by the catalogue than by the staircase, the state of the frame and the rules of the building.
Door reinforcement in AntibesSmart lock
In Antibes a smart lock answers a logistics problem first: too many different people need to get in, at different moments, to a property nobody occupies all year round.

A safe is only worth what holds it in place. In Antibes the wall changes completely from one district to the next, and it is the wall that decides between building in and bolting down.

I rent a flat by the week in Juan-les-Pins. What should I have ready?
At Juan-les-Pins the keys change hands every week, which is exactly why we check. Show the furnished-letting agreement or the booking email in your name, together with an identity document. If it is all shut inside the flat, a written line from the owner or the agency that entrusted you with the keys is accepted; without it, the door stays closed.
Does the cylinder need changing after every holiday let?
Not automatically. As long as every set handed out came back and no copy could have been cut, the cylinder still does its job. Replacement becomes necessary when a set is missing, when a key travelled with the address attached to it, or when the same set served a manager, a cleaning company and several tenants in a row. That is the everyday case for a studio let by the week near the pine grove.
I found the break-in on arrival; the flat had been empty for weeks. What now?
Go no further inside than you must and call the police. Tell the caretaker or the building manager if there is one, since other flats may be affected. Photograph what you can see from the threshold. Temporary securing lets the property be closed the same evening without spoiling the findings. At the Cap, go through the estate caretaker as well: they are usually first on the spot.
My key has been catching since the summer. Can it wait?
No. On the Antibes seafront a catching key means a fouled barrel or a seizing pin, and the full jam usually arrives with the first cold spell. Dealt with early it is a clean and a dry lubricant. Left alone it ends as a snapped key one evening, on the wrong side of the door.
