Give the street, then the level
The street name is not enough here. The roads are stacked in terraces above Monaco, and the entrance to a building on the boulevard de la République can sit two flights of steps above or below the number you are reading. Give the name of the residence, the actual floor and the nearest public lift. The number painted on the façade says nothing about the level you walk in on.
Then comes the difference between a door pulled shut and a door locked with a key. Pulled shut, only the latch bolt holds the leaf. Locked, the deadbolt is out, and the refurbished flats around Les Ligures often throw several points up the height of the door. Say which of the two you are facing: it decides what gets carried up the stairs.
The rest depends on what can be brought up. In Moneghetti the stairwells are tight and a landing can measure two square metres. We work with what fits, and the method is settled at the door, after looking at the play in the leaf, the type of lock and the state of the frame. A tight weather seal, a low threshold strip or a hook bolt rule some options out immediately.
Proving you live there, in a town people pass through
No door is opened on request alone. You have to show that you live there: identity document carrying the address, rent receipt, energy bill, home insurance certificate. If those papers are shut inside, which happens quickly when you go down to work in the Principality carrying the bare minimum, say so when you call.
Beausoleil houses a great many people employed in Monaco, and tenants settled for only a few months. A tenancy agreement or a rental contract serves as proof; failing that, written confirmation from the landlord, the letting agency or the managing agent takes over. For a cellar or a shared room in Le Tenao, the agent’s agreement is still needed.
An itemised quote is presented before any work and a detailed invoice handed over at the end. While you wait, do not slide anything into the rebate: on the pre-war leaves kept around Saint-Antoine, a blade snapped off in the seal turns a straightforward opening into joinery repair.
How does this service work?
Techniques, typical situations, standards and things to watch out for: it is all on our door opening page. This page focuses on what the service involves in Beausoleil.
