Two centres, with the Vallon climb between them
The town signs carry two names, Vallauris and Golfe-Juan, and the two centres are separated by the climb through Le Vallon. A call that gives only the 06220 postcode does not say which side the door is on. Give the street name, say whether you are inland or on the shore, and add the nearest landmark: the église Sainte-Anne, the harbour, the station.
Up in the old town, the grid plan laid out when the place was resettled in 1501 lines up narrow streets where you rarely park outside your own door. Around avenue Georges Clemenceau and place Paul Isnard, potters' windows fill the ground floors and the way into the flat above is often a side door. Say which one it is.
In Golfe-Juan the railway splits the district into two strips: the seaside blocks along the front on one side, the streets climbing inland on the other. Up at Les Encourdoules, on the slope below Super-Cannes, a gate comes before the door. Give the name on the entry-phone, the exact floor, and the gate remote if you have one.
Proof first, assessment second
No door is opened on someone's word. Proof of occupancy is asked for: an identity document showing the address, a rent receipt, an energy bill, a home insurance certificate. When everything is shut inside, written confirmation from the building manager, the landlord or a neighbour on the same landing takes over. That is a trade rule, not paperwork invented on the spot.
Golfe-Juan houses a great many people in July and August: flats taken by the week, studios above the shops, crews stopping over at port Camille Rayon. For a short stay, the rental agreement or the booking email in your name serves as proof. Failing that, we go back to the owner or to the agency that handed over the keys.
The method is decided at the door, never on the phone. We look at the family of lock, the play in the frame, the thickness of the timber, and the state of a jamb that has taken workshop dust for decades. A detailed quote comes before the work and an itemised invoice at the end. Until then, do not force the key.
