An address is not enough to locate a door here
Marina Baie des Anges is made of four pyramid-shaped blocks — Le Ducal, Le Commodore, L’Amiral, Le Baronnet — numbered on no street logic at all. Give the name of the block, the level, the exact flat number and which side you are on, sea or hillside: without those four details we circle the walkways while you stand waiting at your door.
Up in the old village the last stretch is walked. The car stops at the first place it can, then narrow lanes and vaulted passages lead to the cramped landings around the medieval keep. Say how many flights of steps there are from the nearest point a vehicle can stop: that is what decides which equipment can be carried up.
At Les Plans and along the seafront the obstacle changes again. The developments on the Loup plain have a gate, then a hall, then a keypad; the furnished flats at Villeneuve-Plage change occupants every week in season. Tell us on the phone what stands between the road and your doorstep, gates included.
Proof of occupancy first, method second
No door is opened on request alone. Proof of occupancy is asked for: an identity document showing the address, a rent receipt, an energy bill, a home insurance certificate. If it is all shut inside, say so when you call; written confirmation from the resident caretaker, a neighbour along the walkway or the building manager can stand in.
Villeneuve-Plage and the Marina house a great many short-stay occupants. For a studio taken by the week, the rental agreement or the booking email in your name serves as proof; failing that, we go through the owner or the agency that handed over the keys. The same applies to a second home whose letterbox does not yet carry your name.
The method is decided at the door, never over the phone: type of lock, play in the leaf, condition of the frame, and what the village stairs or the Marina lift will let us bring up. A detailed quote comes before the work and an itemised invoice at the end. Until then, slide nothing into the rebate of an old timber door.
